Elizabeth is still doing really well. She is doing great on her cannula and requiring low amounts of oxygen, today she was at room air for a few hours. The next step is to wean down the amount of air flow thru the cannula.
Elizabeth has doubled her birth weight, she is 2lbs 6oz. Her feeds are up to 22cc every three hours. We are trying to breastfeed twice a day now, try is the word. Elizabeth usually lactches and takes a few sucks and is done; right now all her food is given via a feeding tube that she likes to take out.
The eye exam this week wasn't great news, but was expected. The eye doctor who did the exam said that Elizabeth needs close watching and will start weekly exams. Elizabeth is at a huge risk for some problems. Right now the doctor is watching how the vessels are growing, if there is a need for surgery it will be done latter on. It also looks like the hernia Elizabeth has will probably need to be repaired close to discharge.
Please keep praying and enjoy your weekend!
